Mr. Rob Muller - Financial Director Kelly Services, The Netherlands
Rob Muller is the Finance Director of Kelly Services Netherlands. Being part of a US based, Nasdaq listed, company he is confronted with the effects of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in his daily work. He is a certified auditor who before working
for Kelly Services has worked in the Staffing Industry as well as for ING and Deloitte & Touche.
Mr. Kosta Weber, Global Risk Management Solutions, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Mr Kosta is a member of PwC's core team helping SEC registrants in meeting the requirements as set out by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. He is involved in a number of Sarbanes-Oxley Act related advisory projects as an experienced manager. Kosta is focused on risk management and internal control design and improvement. Before working for PricewaterhousCoopers, as well as Arthur Andersen, Kosta has worked in the industry as a controller and analyst.
Mr. John Stynes, Finance Manager, Cisco EOC (European Operating Centre), responsible for the Virtual Close of the EOC which is the EMEA Buy/Sell entity, EMEA Corporate Reporting and Control and leading the EMEA US GAAP centre of excellence.
Mr. Erik van der Plaats, European Commission official at Directorate General Internal Market – Directorate financial markets on behalf of the European Commission, in charge of policy making for statutory audit and accounting strategy. Specific responsibilities include:
- Drafting of the European Commission Recommendations: on quality assurance for statutory auditors and on auditor independence;
- Case handler for several European Union laws (Directives) such as the fair value accounting Directive and the Directive on financial reporting thresholds;
- Secretary of the EU Committee on Auditing, a committee of 15 Member States audit regulators;
- Case handler for the outreach effects to the EU of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act;
- EU-US regulatory dialogue, in charge for the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and audit issues;
- Drafting of the forthcoming European Commission Communication on audit priorities
Previous positions included audit team leader at the European Commission where he had conducted several internal audits and special investigations within the European Commission. Prior to this, as a self employed financial expert, Mr,Van de Platts managed several financial and had implemented accounting systems, internal control and internal reporting systems for various companies. During this time he also prepared financial statements.
Publications to his name include;
- Article in the European Accounting review “regulating auditor independence” published in Volume 9 : Number 4 : November 2000;
- A chapter on budget and financial management for a book on public management published in September 1996.
